  1. I totally understand your frustration. It sounds incredibly frustrating, especially when it’s disrupting your sleep on a daily basis. So if your ceiling looks like this:

Then consider adding mineral wool insulation and then cover it up with soundproof drywall and you will be fine.

  6. Hey Marcus, I totally get your dilemma. Both drywall and MLV have their strengths when it comes to soundproofing, but choosing the right one depends on your specific needs and the condition of your walls.

If your walls are already in good shape and you’re mainly dealing with airborne noise like voices or music, then soundproof drywall could be the way to go. It’s effective at blocking sound transmission and relatively easy to install, although it might require a bit more effort than regular drywall.

On the other hand, if your walls are thin or poorly insulated and you’re dealing with a lot of low-frequency noise like traffic or loud appliances, mass-loaded vinyl (MLV) might be the better option. It’s dense and flexible, making it great for blocking both airborne and impact noise. Plus, it can be installed under drywall or even on top of existing walls for added soundproofing.

  7. Hey, Luke! So glad you found the article helpful. Between the Pentair SuperFlo VS and the Hayward W3SP2303VSP MaxFlo VS, I’d lean towards the Pentair SuperFlo VS. It’s been my go-to for over four years, and the performance and quiet operation are stellar. It’s been a reliable choice for me. Hope this helps with your decision! Cheers!

  8. Thanks for the appreciation! By the way, did you soundproof your basement ceiling?

  9. Hey Govind,

Dealing with this situation is pretty common these days, and I’m getting a bunch of questions about it. So, here’s the deal: if you haven’t already, try complaining to the management, but make sure you’ve got some solid evidence, like a recording of the stomping noise. If you’ve already complained and it’s not working, you might want to consider stomping back (not the friendliest option, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do) or taking it up with the cops.

Now, if you’re looking for a more peaceful resolution, consider soundproofing your room or at the ceiling. We’ve got a guide on how to do it that you can check out for some tips.

Hope that helps you out. If you’ve got any more questions on this or anything else, feel free to drop them in the comments. Good luck!

  10. Ok, Thanks!
