If you are hunting for an efficient yet quietest window Air Conditioner, the Midea U Inverter MAW08V1QWT is the best choice to go for. I ordered the air conditioner on May 9, and it was showing that it will arrive within 5-7 days but I received it on July 25. That was a too long shipping time.

Although, this is a 8,000 BTU window air conditioner capable of cooling a space of up to 350 square feet. Talking about its noise level, it is super low, while testing it we notice a noise level of only 47.3 dB making it is one of the quietest 8,000 BTU window air conditioners.

Apart from the low noise level, its design is also very attractive. It features a U-shaped design that helps distribute cool air evenly throughout the room, ensuring that every corner is cooled comfortably. However, its installation process can be confusing. To be honest, it took me a whole day to set up and test this Midea U Inverter MAW08V1QWT Window AC Unit. This issue has also been mentioned by some of its buyers in the review section.

Moreover, It has a built-in timer, allows you to program it to turn on or off at specific times. It is also highly energy efficient thanks to its DC inverter technology. In fact, according to the manufacturer, it is 35% more energy efficient than other traditional ACs in the market.

All in all, the Midea U Inverter MAW08V1QWT is a reliable, efficient and quietest air conditioner. It has got a rating of 4.5 out of 5.0 which is quite impressive, and 88% of its total ratings are more than 4 stars, fantastic!

Well this Tosot’s air conditioner is a 8,000 BTU window air conditioner that is ideal for cooling up to 350 square feet. While testing, it efficiently cooled a 180-square-foot room. The room temperature at first was about 83°F and in about an hour the room temperature dropped to 64.4°F. Its cooling speed is impressive.

One feature of this TOSOT 8,000 BTU Window AC unit that makes it stand out from the rest is its super low noise level. It recorded a noise level of just 42dB when running on low settings and went up to 50.7dB on high settings, but it is still super low.

Another thing that I personally like the most about this unit is its design, believe me its design is super cool and attractive. Plus, the unit’s remote control feature allows you to turn it on without physically interacting with the unit, adding an extra layer of convenience. In addition, this window AC unit features adjustable wind movers that let you customize the direction of the airflow where you want.

The TOSOT 8,000 BTU Quiet air conditioner also includes a filter cleaning reminder feature. This feature reminds you to clean the air filter after every 250 hours of operation to ensure that the air conditioner is operating at its best. As air filters remove impurities from the air, such as dust, pollen, and pet dander, it is important to clean them regularly to maintain the performance and efficiency of the air conditioner. I personally liked this feature the most.

Furthermore, it is also equipped with dehumidification feature that removes up to 1.2 liters of moisture per hour, that helps prevent mold and mildew growth. The unit has an iFeel Smart mode. This mode adjusts the cooling settings automatically to provide the most comfortable level of cooling.

All in all, the unit is great. It is loaded with a bunch of features and has a rating of 4.4 out of 5.0 on Amazon, this indicates that the product is of good quality. If you found it suitable, follow the link below to check its price:

    • Super attractive design
    • Provide excellent cooling with low noise
    • Can be controlled with your phone
    • 68% lower global warming potential

    Cooling Capacity8,300 BTU
    Coverage350 sq. ft.
    RemoteYes
    Dimensions (LxWxH)19.4 x 19.3 x 13.2 inches

I can’t believe I haven’t included this windmill air conditioner on this list yet, and I think I don’t need to tell you how cool the design of this window unit is, you can see it in the above images. And when I was reading its reviews, I found that 27% people praised its design.

The cooling power of this windmill air-conditioner is 8,300 BTU which can provide cooling to an area of 350 square feet. This unit is quite simple and easy to set up as compared to other in this list. I notice that it took me about 25 minutes to set up this unit. However, the AC unit is quite heavy. I needed to take help from my friend to install it.

Talking about its performance, it is quite good. We tested it in our test room which is 180 square feet and after running it for an hour, it reduced the room temperature by 21.8 degrees Fahrenheit, impressive! And at the same time I checked its noise level and it was 51dB.

Plus, it’s Wi-Fi enabled, and offers a mobile app for both iOS and Android. I installed the app on my smartphone using the QR code on the box. I didn’t notice any issues when connecting it to Wi-Fi, but the options were very similar to the remote, you can do everything with the remote that you can do with its app.

Furthermore, Windmill says that “this air conditioner utilizes R32 refrigerant, which has 68% less global warming potential than the commonly used 410a refrigerant.” So If you are using this unit then you are reducing global warming up to 68% as compared to normal AC.

Needless to say, if you are sure that this is what you are looking for, then you can consider it. In my opinion, this is the best air conditioner for 350 sq. ft. space. Check its price:

In terms of noise level, this model from LG works quietly but not quietly as Windmill air conditioner. While testing, I notice a noise level of 54.3dB which is low. Additionally, this window air conditioner is also quite efficient, helps you save money on your energy bill. Generally, In window air conditioners EER rating of 10 is considered as good, but this LG LW1216ER EER rating is 12.1, which speaks about its efficiency. Furthermore, the LG LW1216ER is also capable of removing moisture from the air with a dehumidification rate of 3.8 pints per hour. One potential drawback of this LG LW1216ER is its size. At 23.6 x 22.2 x 15 inches, it may not be suitable for installation in all Windows. Also, It’s pretty heavy. Its weight is 81 pounds, so you may need a helper to install it.

To sum up, the LG LW1216ER is a reliable and efficient and quiet air conditioner that is suitable for large rooms. It’s been on Amazon since 2015 and since then, it has earned 7,697 ratings. Currently, it is priced at $395, you can check its current price by following the link:

    Cons:
    • Average cooling performance

    Cooling Capacity6,200 BTU
    Coverage250 sq. ft.
    RemoteYes
    Dimensions (LxWxH)21.25 x 18.13 x 12.44

Haier is one of the top brands in the world of air conditioners. I have been using its AC unit for more than a year now and I have not found any issues with the unit I am using. The Haier Electronic ESAQ406TZ Window Air Conditioner is one of the quietest air conditioners available in the market.

This 6,200 BTU unit is perfect for cooling rooms up to 250 square feet and has a noise level of just 42 decibels in low mode, but we see it exceed 55 dB on high settings. It’s not impressive but it’s good nonetheless. This unit is awesome, it is perfectly designed, super-easy to set up and is lightweight too. Its weighs around 56 pounds which counts as a lightweight unit.

Also, it comes with an eco mode feature, this is one of the best features of this unit and I like it the most. Eco Mode is a setting on some selected air conditioners that acts just like a thermostat. When you turn it on, it heats up until the temperature reaches your desired level and then shuts off. It saves energy while keeping your room at the optimum temperature.

Eco Mode can reduce power consumption by up to 25%. It is also known to be a power saving feature which will make your AC more energy efficient. And along with this, it also has an energy saver mode which will also help you save your money on electricity bills.

In addition, it has a Dehm Mode, a built-in air conditioner humidity setting that balances the humidity level in the room to maintain your comfort and make it easier to breathe. And to direct the airflow exactly where you want, it has a 4-way air direction that helps it do that.

When testing in a 180 square feet room, we does notice any shortcoming in its cooling performance, it is just as average as other conventional AC units. However, its cooling performance is better than the GE Profile PHC06LY.

In my opinion, this unit is not very good or bad, it is just average. However, it is extremely affordable, currently available for only $299.00. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet window air conditioner for general use for a small space, this one can be a good choice, click the link below for further:

#6 GE Profile Ultra Quiet Window Air Conditioner

GE Profile Ultra Quiet w AC
    8.4
    Quietest one!
    Pros:
    • Most quietest window AC unit
    • Can be controlled by Alexa or Google assistant
    • Super affordable
    Cons:
    • Not efficient
    • Sometimes wi-fi stopped working
    • Provide a bit poor cooling
    Brand GE
    Weight56 Pounds
    EER
    Noise level40 dB
    Cooling Capacity6,150 BTU
    Coverage250 sq. ft.
    RemoteYes
    Dimensions (LxWxH)18 x 21.25 x 12.43 inches

Well, this GE Profile is one of the quietest air conditioner in this list of {Top 8} quietest window air conditioners. Its noise level is just 40dB which is downright low as a library and this is the reason GE calls this unit an ultra quiet window ac, and it would be a great option for those looking for the quietest 6000 BTU window air conditioner, but it might not be.

The GE Profile PHC06LY is suitable for cooling rooms up to 250 square feet. It is built-in Wi-Fi, powered by the SmartHQ app, which gives you the ability to create schedules, check energy usage and more.

In addition, this unit features three fan speeds and four cooling modes, providing total flexibility with optimal home comfort and also includes Eco Mode that automatically shuts off the fan and compressor, saving energy on utilities.

However, this unit is not efficient. While testing we noticed that it consumed 12.9A, and it was not providing enough cooling. Previously, the room temperature was 76.7°F and after running it for an hour the temperature only drops by 8°F, that’s too bad.

While testing this GE Profile PHC06LY air conditioner, I also faced the problem of connecting to Wi-Fi. To be honest, it took more than 15 minutes to connect but just after 2 minutes it stopped working then I gave up because I was frustrated with this.

Overall, the unit would be an option if you are looking for a quiet air conditioner simply because its noise level is low. But the other factors are negligible. And it has a poor rating of 4.1 out of 5.0 because of its weaknesses. Most critical reviews included this; Its build quality is poor and some users also reported that they are having problems with Wi-Fi, the same issue that I found.

Now what do you think about this unit, if you find it suitable for you, you can check it out from the link below. Its price is very low, it’s even less than $200.

    #7 GE Serentiy Series AHQQ06LX

    GE 6,000 BTU Air
    9.1
    Also great!
    Pros:
    • It delivers ultra quiet operation at just 43 dB
    • Provide better cooling performance
    • It features Removable filter
    Cons:
    • It’s a bit pricey
    Brand GE
    Weight56 Pounds
    Noise level43 dB
    EER rating 12.1 (CEER)
    Cooling Capacity6,000 BTU
    Coverage250 sq. ft.
    Dimensions (LxWxH)21.25 x 21.25 x 12.44 inches

“GE is a brand known for its high quality and quiet operation AC unit” Is it right? Definitely! When it comes to ultra-quiet window air conditioners on the market, the GE Serentiy Series AHQQ06LX is counted among them. This 6,000 BTU unit is capable of cooling small rooms up to 250 square feet.

The noise level is only 43 decibels, which is equivalent to a library or light rain. It is super easy to install, it takes the least amount of time to install as compared to other units on this list. It also comes with EZ mount installation kit, but this is too common in almost every window air conditioner.

Plus, it weighs 56 pounds, plus it comes with a removable filter, so you can take the filter out, clean it, and reinstall it. It provide better cooling than both of them, the GE Profile PHC06LY and the Haier Electronic ESAQ406TZ. We tested it in the same 180-square-foot room and after about an hour of running we got a temperature drop of about 12 degrees Fahrenheit. The unit also features three cooling speeds, making it easy to customize your cooling experience.

All aspects considered, this unit is an ideal cooling solution for small rooms. But I notice that the unit does not have strong corners. Though, it has a rating of 4.3 out of 5.0, which is credible but not very impressive.

So whether you’re looking for an efficient or quiet window ac unit or just want to cool your home quickly and quietly, the GE Serentiy Series AHQQ06LX is a great choice that you can go for. However, its price is a bit steep, at almost $400, which is not a suitable price point for this unit.

    #8 Emerson Quiet Kool EARC15RE1

    Emerson Quiet Kool EARC15RE1
    7.3
    Not bad!
    Pros:
    • Has 8 way airflow
    • Washable filters
    • Super efficient
    • Operates quietly
    Cons:
    • Extremely expensive
    • Does not have a good rating
    • Only 6000 BTU cooling capacity
    Brand Emerson
    Weight
    EER12.2 (SEER)
Noise level52dB (in low) & 56db in high
    Cooling Capacity6,000 BTU
    Coverage250 square feet
    RemoteYes
    Dimensions (LxWxH)23.6 x 35.4 x 17.9 inches

This Emerson Quiet Cool EARC15RE1 window air conditioner can be used to cool an area of up to 250 square feet as it has a cooling capacity of 6,000 BTU. However, it costs around $855 which is extremely expensive. That is even more than the combined price of the Midea U MAW08V1QWT and the TOSOT 8,000 BTU air conditioners. And at that price, its cooling capacity is only 6,000 BTU, a huge drawback of this unit.

Anyway, I like that this air conditioner has 8-way air flow louvers that let you direct the airflow wherever you want, this is the best feature of the unit and I liked it the most. The unit noise level is 52dB on low and reaches 56dB when it run on high settings. Its installation is quite easy and Its cooling performance is also pretty good as for its cooling capacity, it cools a 180 square feet room quickly.

The unit is extremely energy efficient, with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 12.2. And it is loaded with some super cool features like washable filter, timer mode, sleep mode and eco mode. This unit has been on Amazon since 2017 and since then it has received only 28 global ratings, which is just because of its hefty price tag.

To sum up, this may be a good option to consider if your budget is high, but I wouldn’t recommend this unit, as it could literally break your bank. By the way, check the link below for further:

Why should you choose Quiet Window Air Conditioners?

We’ve got some reasons why a quiet window aircon should be your first choice, and all of these reasons are sourced from people who have a quiet window ac unit.

    1. They gives a peace of mind:

The most obvious advantage of having a quiet window air conditioner is being able to watch TV, listen to music, or concentrate on activities like reading, studying or working without getting districted by the noise of a noisy air conditioner. They also help you sleep better at night.

    2. To avoid upsetting your neighbor:

If you live in an apartment, it’s important that the noise your unit generates doesn’t disturb your neighbors, so that you won’t have any angry tenants knocking on your door and telling you to turn off your window AC unit.

In this case, it would be great to go with a quiet window AC unit, as they tends to produces less noise than other conventional units. And as it operates quietly the noise will not travel into your neighbor’s room, so they will not be angry with you.

    3. To reduce electricity bill:

Another reason why you should go with a silent window AC unit is to reduce the electricity bill. Generally, a quieter unit is a bit more efficient than other conventional units.

    4. They cost less on repairs:

As your air conditioning unit ages, it becomes more prone to breakdowns, which will result in expensive repairs. AC units that operate quietly tend to last a little longer and require less costly repairs. Therefore, selecting a quieter AC can save you money on repairs over time.

A cons of silent window AC unit

You can not afford it: A quiet window air conditioner is good in every aspects, but they costs a little more than a regular AC unit, not much but a little. And of course, if you cannot afford it then you are indirectly wasting your money on higher electricity bills and higher repair bills and also you are more likely to disturb your neighbor. In my opinion, buying a quiet window air conditioner will save you a lot of money.

Things to consider when choosing a quiet window AC unit

Choosing the best and quietest air conditioner is all about finding an efficient and effective way to keep your space cool during the hot summer months. Here are some of the key factors that you should consider while choosing a silent window window air conditioner.

    #1 Noise level

Noise level is the most crucial factor of choosing a quiet window air conditioner. The sound level of anything is measured in decibels (dB).

Most window air conditioners fall in the range between 33 and 67 decibels, but I would recommend you go with a unit that has a noise level of less than 60 dB, as any sound below 60 dB is considered quiet. Generally, the lower the dB, the quieter the unit.

    #2 Energy Efficiency

According to EnergyStar.gov, window air-conditioners and heat pumps are two of America’s most energy-efficient home appliances. To get the most bang for your buck, when it comes to saving energy on cooling costs, make sure to choose an Energy Star-certified model.

Look for units with the Energy Star label. This label indicates that these products meet strict guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.

Look for AC that has an EER rating of at least 8. The higher an air conditioner’s EER, the more efficient.

    • EER rating below 8: Low Energy-Efficiency.
    • EER rating between 8 to 10: Norm Energy-Efficiency.
    • EER rating 10 or more: Fantastic Energy-Efficiency.

But not all air conditioner sellers mention the EER rating. In this case take a look at customer ratings for energy efficiency in the “Rating by Features” section. If the rating is more than 4 out of 5.0 then it is good.

    #3 Cooling Power

How much cooling power you need. This is such a super important that you can’t ignore while choosing a window air conditioner especially quiet one. Look, if you buy an air conditioner that is too small, it will not cool your room effectively.

On the other hand, if you choose a unit whose cooling capacity is greater than the size of your room, it will consume more energy and will increase your electricity bill. Not only that but will also make a lot more noise because an AC unit with higher cooling power is larger in size and allows higher air flow, and higher air flow equals higher noise level.

BTU rating according to your room size.

Room SizeCapacity of a Window Air-Conditioner (For silent operation)
    200 sq. ft.6,000 BTU
    300 sq. ft.9,000 BTU
    400 sq. ft.12,000 BTU
    500 sq. ft.15,000 BTU
    600 sq. ft.18,000 BTU

    #4 Budget

Your budget is a huge factor. It is the deciding factor of the quality of your air conditioner, as if you are on a high budget then you will probably go with the best, most efficient and of course quietest air conditioner. And if is less, then you will go with a unit that suits your budget.

The good news is that since window air conditioners are usually cheaper than central AC units, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on them. The bad news is that window air conditioners don’t last forever. Even any type of AC doesn’t last that long. It is common to start wear and tear after five years, especially for window air conditioners.

Usually, a cheaper unit tends to wear-out faster compared to a pricey unit. So it is important that you choose a unit that is not very high but has a moderate range of price points to ensure it lasts more than 8 years. A moderate price point for a window unit is ranges between $400 to $700.

#5 Remote for controlling the air-conditioner

It is also necessary to check that the unit you are buying comes with a remote control. This makes it possible to adjust the temperature from anywhere in the room. This will let you easily turn on and off features such as dehumidifier, fan, cool or warm modes, even the air conditioner itself.

So make sure that the unit you are buying has a remote control feature. However, I am 100% sure that most units of this generation have this feature. Also, all of the Ac units on this list have it as well.

    #6 Air filter

There is more to air conditioning than just bringing cool air into your home; It is also necessary to think about the quality of air coming into your space.

If you have allergies or asthma, filters can help improve your quality of life. Filters prevent pollen, dust, smoke, pet dander and mold spores from spreading throughout your home. The best filters are HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air).

    #7 Wi-Fi connectivity

As we are getting advanced day-by-day, it becomes beneficial to have Wi-Fi connectivity in air conditioners. Look for air conditioners with built-in Wi-Fi, this will make it much simpler and easier than operating your AC unit remotely. However, It is beneficial (but unnecessary).

    #8 Read consumer reviews

Consumer ratings and reviews will tell you the most about the reliability, performance and customer service of that particular window air conditioner or whatever product you are purchasing.

So be sure to take some time to read their reviews before actually making your purchase. This will help you narrow down your options and ensure that you find something that best suits your needs.

And let me tell you that all the window ac units in this list have a rating above 4.0, and I have also provided you with a review of all the units by using them personally.

What makes a Window Air Conditioner noisy?

Have you noticed a sudden increase in noise coming from your window air conditioner? A noisy window air conditioner can be annoying and disrupt your peace and quiet.

So it becomes important to identify the cause of the problem first before actually talking any troubleshooting steps. Here are some of the most common causes of a noisy window air conditioner.

#1 The size of the unit

Window air conditioners are available in different sizes, and the size of the window air conditioner is a huge factor when it comes to the causes of noise from a window air conditioner. It has a big impact.

A unit that is too small for the room will be unable to provide the necessary cooling, and this will cause the compressor to work harder than usual, and will result in a louder noise from the AC unit.

#2 The age of the unit

Believe it or not, but the most common cause of a noisy window air conditioner is the age of that unit. Over time, they tend to make more noise due to normal wear and tear.

The components that make up an air conditioner are subject to a variety of stresses and tend to wear out and cause your unit to make noise. If your window air conditioner has been around for years, it may be worth considering replacing it with a new quiet air conditioner.

Generally, window air conditioners have a lifespan of 8 years to 12 years. So if your unit is over that age, it is most likely that your window air conditioner is making noises due to age.

    #3 The type of compressor

Compressors are the workhorses of the window air conditioner. They are responsible for cooling the air. It can be a major culprit of noisy window air conditioners. The type of compressor in your unit may determine how loud or quiet it will be.

For example, single-speed compressors tend to be noisier than variable-speed models. Single-speed compressors turn on and off frequently to maintain the set temperature, resulting in making a loud “buzzing” sound.

Variable-speed compressors, on the other hand, ramp up and down slowly while adjusting the temperature, resulting in much quieter operation than single-speed models.

    #4 Fan motor

Fan motor noise is also among the common factors of window air conditioners. The fan motor is basically responsible for drawing air over the evaporator coil, which cools the air before sending it back into the room.

Over time, the fan motor can wear out and produce a loud hum or hum. This sound is especially noticeable when the unit is first turned on, or when it is running at its highest speed.

    #5 The type of refrigerant

The refrigerants used in window air conditioners play a big role in noise. Refrigerant helps cool the air, and if not properly maintained, there are high chances that the unit will start making noise. Refrigerants that are not compatible with that unit can cause a lot of noise.

How to make a Window AC quieter?

Here are some tips to make your window AC quieter.

#1 Consider choosing a small window unit

Smaller units tend to be significantly quieter than larger units, even while running on high settings. If you can’t find a smaller unit for your space, you can go with a unit that’s an ideal size for your room.

    #2 Clean the filter regularly

The air conditioner’s filter gets dirty. Dust and dirt accumulation makes your filter dirty, which degrades the air quality. Cleaning the filter regularly will help keep it clean and your unit quieter.

#3 Maintain Your Window AC Regularly

Regular maintenance is important to keep your air conditioner running quietly. Taking the time to maintain your AC unit can help extend its lifespan and keep it operates more quietly than before.

#4 Avoid Running your Window AC on High

According to most manufacturers, running your air conditioner at high speed increases the noise level. So instead of running the air conditioning unit on high every time you’re not in your room during the day, keep your home cool by using fans and windows. At night, try running the unit on its lowest setting.

    #5 Clean your Condenser Coils

Dirty condenser coils in your window AC unit not only cause the AC unit to be noisy, but they can also make your system run less efficiently and possibly even cause to break down. Cleaning these coils is an easy DIY task that will keep your unit running smoothly and at peak efficiency.
